Breaking News…

Planting has started, and we have our first sponsors!

On the morning of Monday 18th February 2013, the rain stopped, the sun came out and planting started in Willow Burn Wood. We owe a big thank you to Lawrence and Martin of MIS Environmental, Peter and Sam Facey of Groundworks and Willow Burn Volunteer John Davison, all of whom gave up their time to make sure the site was ready in time.

Funding application successful

We have been informed that our application for funding from the Forestry Commission has been successful. This is great news as the funds will cover the cost of buying and planting the trees.

If you go down to the woods today…

Willow Burn Wood has been a hive of activity for the last couple of weeks as final preparations are made to plant almost 10,000 trees. Sincere thanks go to Paul Armstrong of Dunelm Homes, together with Peter and Sam Facey of Butterwick Trees (now Groundworks), all of whom have spent many hours in freezing conditions getting the site ready for planting.  Although the snowy weather has been a challenge ...
